New Bedford, Massachusetts - view from harbor

Fishing Heritage Center

I volunteered at the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center on an upcoming exhibition exploring the evolution of wheelhouse technology and vessel design in the fishing industry from 1900-present, and the impact of these changes on fishermen, their families, and their communities.

I researched the Center’s extensive oral history collection to find references to uses and changes in wheelhouse technology, providing a foundation for initial exhibition research. I also selected key segments oral history segments and clipped/converted them for use in digital exhibits and audio stations throughout the Center.
